'Think About Me' is a song by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released in March 1980. The song was composed by Fleetwood Mac keyboardist Christine McVie. 'Think About Me' and 'Not That Funny' were the first 'Tusk' singles released in their remixed form.

The song peaked at number 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and number 24 on Canada's RPM Top 100 Singles chart.[1][2]

Even though 'Think About Me' was a Top 20 hit, it was not included in the 1988 album Greatest Hits[3] but was included in the 2002 album The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac. Fleetwood Mac played the song for the first time live in over 25 years for their Australian leg of the 'On with the Show tour' in Sydney. Christine McVie introduced the song in a more humorous fashion; 'It was released as a single, although I don't think it did do terribly well. But we like it.'[4]

Canadian indie rock band The New Pornographers recorded a cover version of the song for the 2012 compilation album Just Tell Me That You Want Me: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac. The version features backward-sounding guitars and Carl Newman on lead vocals.[5]

Reception[edit]

In 1979, Ed Harrison of Billboard called the song 'a more rocking, guitar punctuated tune backed with superb harmonies' and complimented McVie's songwriting.[6] Steve Morse of The Boston Globe gave the single a positive review, calling 'predictably bouncy'.[7]

In 2003, Rob Brunner of Entertainment Weekly gave the Tusk album a positive review, noting that it was a 'must' and 'fascinating mess, full of enough good songs', 'Think About Me' included. Cinema 4d torrent mac.

In 2010, Alfred Soto of PopMatters described the song as 'the unlikeliest of things: a McVie rocker.' Soto called it 'a near-perfect punk number that snuck in below the radar' and that it was 'anchored by her electric piano, (Lindsey) Buckingham's fuzzed-up 'Day Tripper'-esque riff,' and 'the most sarcastic lyrics of McVie's career,' referring to the couplet, 'I don't hold you down/Maybe that's why you're around.'[8]

  • Pros

    • Blocks out potentially distracting applications.
  • Cons

    • Crashed frequently.
    • Users can easily exit the app.

It's easy for instant messages, email, YouTube, and other applications to catch your eye when it's time to get work done—this is the nature of our personal computing existence. So what can you do to block the distractions? Think, a free Mac utility from Freeverse, blocks everything from sight save the app you're using so that you can work without distraction. Think is a great idea, but the execution is not without issue—the app crashed quite a few times during the testing process—but it does have potential to shine with a future update.

Think, which is compatible with OS X 10.4.9 (Tiger) and higher, places a black tool bar—the Illumination Panel—on your desktop. Clicking the arrow on the Illumination Panel's right side brings up the all-black Backdrop that blocks the background from view and displays the icons of apps that you have open. Think gives you the option to change the Backdrop's opacity and default color.

Unfortunately, users have total freedom to exit Think at any time. If you want to check Facebook, you can check Facebook; there's nothing to prevent you from doing so. I would've liked an optional timer that would lock the Backdrop into place for a user-selectable period to make sneaking a peek at another app a bit of a challenge.

That said, Think's biggest flaw is its frequent crashing. I booted Think on two Macs—one running OS X Snow Leopard and another powered by OS X Lion—and the app crashed several times during the evaluation period, on both Macs. Whatever other abilities the app has, crashes, of course, will not help you stay focused. Think, despite its flaws, has the core of a useful Mac utility. An update could address many of my issues and make this app—which could be a productivity boon—live up to its full potential.
